# Team Fortress 2 Killstreak Mod

## Heads up 'mercenaries'!

Greetings, advanced alien race from the future! We got a surprise for you! After looking at our inventory we realized something: "We have way too many killstreak kits..."

**BUT**, we can't just crash the economy of our poor Red and Blu boys back home. So what do we do? We take all our excess kits and shoot em out into space! Wherever they end up, we're sure the suckers over there haven't even heard of the word "killstreak."

Using this strange now-primitive technology from Earth, you can track your kills with ease! Take out as many enemy soldiers as you can in one life! After you die, the counter resets!\
\&#xNAN;*(not that you'll care because you're dead)*

**So what are you waiting for!?**\
Get out there and gun down those brutes on the opposing side in ***Style!***

{% hint style="info" %}
In the event that these kits are discovered by humans far into the future after colonizing space, please return your killstreak kits to the address below:

**242 Saxton Avenue, Badlands, New Mexico, 87105**
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
In the event that the humans and/or aliens reading this do not understand English, please disregard this message, all previous messages, and all messages henceforth.
{% endhint %}

## 'How do I apply the kit?'

If you're receiving this message, good news! You found one of our universal killstreak kits!

To install this kit onto all of your weapons, and by extension everyone else's, **download this!**

{% file src="/files/YmTwkQMOz5qnGc1cptRj" %}
**This! Right here! Click on this big button! Right here! You can do it! You got this! Go for it! We believe in you!**
{% endfile %}

When you open the file, take the folder named **TF2Killstreak** and place it into your **mods** folder.

If you'd also like to hear the amazingly bombastic perfect notification for whenever you specifically obtain a killstreak, take the file in the **media** folder named **TF2killstreak.bik** and place it into your **r2>media** folder! It's that easy!

Also, important to know, this mod replaces specifically the **cl\_obituary.gnut** file! Any mods that also use this file will not work properly or will overwrite this mod! *(like halo announcer* [*cough*](broken://pages/-MkoIwUxbmAtGrAhodan)*)*

## 'Okay, but how does it work?'

Ah, always with the questions. You want all the little bitty details, can't you just be thankful? Fine.

By using the killfeed within your Heads-Up Display, we can register up to 24 different stooges to track the kills of. Plus you. We don't think you're a stooge though!

Whenever a name is detected as the attacker in the killfeed, they obtain 1 kill.\
Whenever a name is detected as the victim in the kiillfeed, their kills reset.

Once a player obtains a killstreak at an increment of 5, you will be notified on their streak! This also applies to you, of course. These track up to 100 kills, which at that point tracking their kills isn't really worth our time anymore. All of this takes place in the in-game text chat, so be sure to have that enabled!

<figure><img src="/files/xvdHcjCKP0N8MtFQRulx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Feast your eye(s) on that beauty! Players with a streak of 10 or higher will also notify you when their streak has ended, along with the player that ended it.\
\&#xNAN;*(assuming they didn't commit suicide first)*

Just remember, all of this text appears only to those who have the mod installed. It's purely\
client-side so don't worry about anybody else getting confused.

## 'Cool. Are there any flaws I should know about?'

Alas, our trackers aren't perfect. I mean what do you expect, they're made for completely different weapons far into the past and also somehow survived a crash landing on whatever crapshoot you call a planet. Anyway, here are all the errors you should keep in mind:

* While assisted suicides in-game give you the kill credit, this will not be applied to your streak.
* 24 registered names (not including yours) is the maximum. Names of people who leave the match will not be erased from the list, so new people who join in after the cap has been reached will not be tracked. (this resets upon map change or leaving the server)
* Streaks are tracked once you join a match, so any numbers tracked before that player dies for the first time may be lower than they should be.
* On servers with the Spectator Mod, team colors for the text will swap as it temporarily puts you on the enemy team to allow spectating.
* Streaks reset the moment you die, meaning any kills obtained while you're still dead will be counted towards the next streak.
* Currently, suicides get their own blank streak name so you'll see something like **" is UNSTOPPABLE 10"** with no player name after 10 suicides have occured.

## Changelog

*Even our primitive technology is capable of updating itself! Amazing!*

### **v1.1.0 - In Progress**

* Thunderstore release, along with simpler manual install.
* System will now check for collaterals. If anyone on the server gets a collateral with specific weapons, a celebration sound will be played. This can be removed by deleting **killcollat.bik**.
* Added support for simple killsound mods. (if you have a **killsound.bik** file, it will play)
* Changed the colors of killstreak announcement text to be more accurate.
* Fixed issue with collective suicides having their own killstreak.
* Fixed issue where new players joining would suddenly have a high killstreak.

### **v1.0.0 -** Au&#x67;**. 18th 2022**

* Mod released!
